None (Ninth Hour): Agpeya prayer in English & Arabic
None (Ninth Hour) of the Coptic Agpeya: 3 PM: the death of Christ on the Cross.
It is the mid-afternoon prayer, often prayed when the day starts to feel long, and it recalls the hour Christ gave up His spirit.
The psalms of this hour are Psalms 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 109, 110, 111, 112, 114, 115.
The Gospel reading for this hour is Luke 9:10-17.
To pray it, begin with the opening prayers, read the psalms slowly, listen to the Gospel, and finish with the litanies and the Lord’s Prayer. If you are new to the Agpeya, ask your priest which hours to start with.
The full hour, with its psalms, the Gospel and the litanies, opens in the interactive reader in English, Arabic or both side by side. It is free in Doxali.
