Terce (Third Hour): Agpeya prayer in English & Arabic

Terce (Third Hour) of the Coptic Agpeya: 9 AM: the descent of the Holy Spirit and the condemnation of Christ.

It is a good pause in the middle of the morning, when work is in full swing and it is easy to forget to pray.

The psalms of this hour are Psalms 19, 22, 23, 25, 28, 29, 33, 40, 42, 44, 45, 46.

The Gospel reading for this hour is John 14:26-15:4.

To pray it, begin with the opening prayers, read the psalms slowly, listen to the Gospel, and finish with the litanies and the Lord’s Prayer. If you are new to the Agpeya, ask your priest which hours to start with.

The full hour, with its psalms, the Gospel and the litanies, opens in the interactive reader in English, Arabic or both side by side. It is free in Doxali.

The interactive reader opens here when JavaScript is available. You can also read our prayer and Bible reading guides.
